University Methodist is working with JUC (Jerusalem University College) to plan an 11-day Short-Term field study program to Greece in October 2025. This field study will follow the steps of Paul on his second missionary journey from Neapolis to Corinth. Participants will fly in and out of Athens. The itinerary includes Thessaloniki, Phillippi, Veria (ancient Berea), Vergina, the Meteora monasteries, Delphi, Athens, Corinth, ancient Olympia and a day on the Greek Island of Spetses.
The per person cost of the trip is $3875 plus airfare (double occupancy room or + $780 single occ. room) for the Tour from October 12 to October 22. You are welcome to add additional days for your own agenda before or after our Tour for an additional cost. You will be booking your own airfare.
University travelers need to sign up AND submit their $500 deposits by June 15th. (Deposits are refundable until June 15th.) All payments on the balance of trip will be due by July 14th. This Greece Study Tour will be limited to 25-40 people.
A handout with an overview of the trip is available now. A pre-trip map study and a series of "Travels of Paul" lectures will be provided.
Regarding our instructor: Dr. Chris Vlachos, the field study leader, earned an M.A. at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and a Ph.D. at Wheaton College under the supervision of Douglas J. Moo. He went on to teach at Wheaton College for 17 years where he also served for many years as the director of the Wheaton in the Holy Lands program and later helped to launch, in partnership with JUC, Wheaton College’s new Semester in Jerusalem program. Dr. Vlachos has been teaching in-residence at JUC during fall semesters since 2021. He and his wife Patty live on the south side of Chicago and are the parents of three children and grandparents of six grandchildren.
