Join University’s Sr. Adults for our next day trip on Thursday, June 18, from 8:45am-4:30pm. We’ll meet at the church bus at 8:45am, then head to Vibrant Works to meet their President and CEO for a tour. Vibrant Works was formerly called San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind and Vision Impaired. It is a non-profit organization with over 450 employees and has been empowering people with vision loss since 1933. They began as a small sewing plant on the south side of San Antonio. Today, they are one of the largest employers of individuals with vision loss in the nation. They are the largest manufacturer of US-made military apparel in Texas in addition to other items. Independent living skills are provided for people of all ages and stages of vision loss.
We’ll have lunch at the Little Red Barn Steakhouse, a family-owned restaurant that opened in 1963. After lunch, we will go to the courthouse building to tour the Bexar County Heritage Center. We'll learn about Bexar County's History, starting 10,000 years ago. A docent will give us a tour of the museum and also a tour of nearby monuments, Main Plaza and some of the San Fernando Cathedral.
We look forward to you, your family, and your friends joining us! Please register online soon, as registration closes on Monday, June 15. If preferred, registration and payment can be made in the church office by Monday, June 15. Advanced registration is required.
Cost is $40 and includes transportation, lunch, admission fees, and tips; day trips require a minimum of 27 participants, and the cost is non-refundable. If you haven't already turned in an updated medical form/liability waiver for 2026, we will need one from you.
